For a while I've harboured the notion to record an album based on a combination of Springsteen's 'Nebraska', Cash's 'American Recordings' and Prine's 'Tree of Forgiveness'. And, as one positive outcome from recent world events I got the space and time to bring the crazy idea into my version of reality.

I challenged myself to make the album as a solo invention, within the limitations of 4 tracks of music and rootsy simple arrangements. All of this, with the aim of allowing the listener to focus on the songs.

'Rhymes with Sounds' is the result - songs that continue the quirky stories and tunes I have been known for, hosted in a stripped back acoustic soundscape. All recorded in a converted cowshed in Bristol UK during 2021/22.
